Welcome to Schmike's Collections...

My passion for fishkeeping started back in 2002. It was during the Flowerhorn craze and my family got a Flowerhorn and told me to settle it. Once the fish was "settled", I started to do research on the Internet on how to care for the fish and soon i got addicted to fishkeeping.

From then on, I started to read up on all types of fish species and begin to start on some beginner's species. After I feel that I'm ready for the challenges of sensitive fish species, I started my collections of sensitive fish species.

So far, I have kept Arowana, Loach, Bichir, Characin, Catfish, Cichlid, Gar, Stingray, etc...

Besides fish, I'm also into frogs and turtles. My first frogs are two White's Tree Frogs. These are the only species of frogs that is approved to be kept as pets by AVA.

Currently, I have two Pig-nosed Turtles and a Red-eared Slider, more commonly know as Terrapin, for my turtles collection. Pig-nosed Turtles were legal in Singapore till early 2005 when they got listed under CITES II which (in short) means that they are an endangered species and origin countries banned export of Pig-nosed turtles. Thus, they also got banned as pets in Singapore.

All information in this site is based on my personal experience and what I have read on the Internet.
